The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission or the CRTC for short, have just announced that starting December 1st, 2017, all individual and small business consumers will have the right to have their mobile devices unlocked for free upon request and all newly purchased devices must be provided unlocked from that day forward. For those of you who aren’t Canadian this is a big deal. Currently, carriers will charge someone $50 to get their phone unlocked. The decision to remove the fee came after reviewing the Wireless Code. The chairman of the CRTC said that “these changes and clarifications that we are announcing today will give Canadians additional tools to make informed choices about their wireless service and take advantage of competitive offers in the marketplace” Now if only we could get the CRTC to do something about these outrageous prices for data plans. What do you guys think about this? I know most of you are from the US. Would you like to see something similar? Leave a comment down below.

Do you know those Amazon dash buttons? Those things that you press once and you get stuff like toilet paper or laundry detergent reordered? Well, now there is a new version of the device called the Amazon dash wand. The wand does what the button does and more with the help of Alexa being integrated. Things like suggesting recipes, converting cooking measurements, and buying ingredients. All you do is press the button on the wand and speak to it. You can even scan a barcode with it to put that item on the shopping list. It’s available for $20 for Amazon Prime Members, but for a limited time, it’s free with a $20 Amazon credit. The Amazon wand is also water resistant, durable and magnetic so you can keep it on your fridge.

One of Grand Theft Auto five’s most popular modding tools, OpenIV,(eye-vee) has been shut down and fans are not happy. Take Two Interactive, the people who own Rockstar games, sent OpenIV a cease and desist letter, stating that openiv would “allow third parties to defeat security features of its software and modify that software in violation of Take Two’s rights.” OpenIV dev, GooD-NTS, says that this accusation is unfounded and that the cease and desist letter is illiterate both technically and grammatically. But with that being said, openiv has decided to back down from fighting the video game publisher. But the fans are the ones that are livid. Following this news, steam users have voiced their concerns by taking to the GTA 5 store and rating it with a swarm of negative reviews. The store page does still shows overall “mostly positive” reviews, but the “recent reviews section” has achieved “mostly negative” with just over 14 thousand negative reviews. Many fans are swearing that they will never buy another Take Two game again.

It’s time for S squared, snippy snippets

According to reports, Konami is apparently targeting former employees who used work for Kojima Productions and getting them blacklisted in the Japanese video game industry. Ex-Konami employees are not allowed to put their Konami experience on their public resumes. “If you leave the company, you cannot rely on Konami’s name to land a job,” explained a former employee. Damn Konami, that’s cold AND savage.

The Xbox game pass just got more interesting as game pass will see 5 new games added to the catalog every month. Not too shabby

Starting today, mobile networks across the European Union will no longer be charging for data roaming across member states. The new ‘Roam like Home’ legislation means that mobile customers across the EU (including the UK) can travel and use their allowance of minutes, texts and data without extra charges. However, there are still a couple of areas where surprise bills could pop up.
