Cloudflare Has Been Leaking Data

Oh, snap, it’s Jack, on a Friday, which means… HAIKU FRIDAYS!

It’s Netlinked Daily. Where you get all the Tech News. Jack is the best host.

Well, not the best, but I’ll take it. Thanks for the haiku submission Rhett, now onto the news!

Wow, a huge data leak has taken place over the last 5 months. It’s being called Cloudbleed. A vulnerability researcher from Google’s project zero, Tavis Ormandy, stumbled across a nasty leak from Cloudflare, a web performance and security company. Tavis contacted the right people and the problem was corrected in less than an hour. To put it simply, the source of the leak was caused by a typo in Cloudflare’s source code. This one little typo caused personal information of users from over 3400 websites. Those websites include 4chan, Uber, Patreon, Fitbit, Crunchyroll, discord, just to name a few. According to sources, the leak began in September, but the greatest period of impact was from February 13 to the 18th. So, I guess this is the perfect time to go through and change all your passwords and set up 2-factor authentication where you can.

Hey, do you own a Razer Blade Stealth laptop and you’re sick of its short battery life? Well, razer is coming out with their first ever battery pack. The Razer Power Bank allows for users to push the battery life of their Stealth up to 15 hours. The power bank is also compatible with additional USB-C powered laptops for convenience. The power bank offers a capacity of 12800mah, 2 USB ports, quick charge 3.0, intelligent device detection made from lightweight CNC aluminum. It weighs in at 335 grams and will be available starting next month for $150US. Personally, I think it’s just an over glorified power bank with a fancy snake logo on it. But it’s nice to see razer expanding into a different sector of tech.

Uh-oh, there may be some issues with Nintendo’s upcoming console, the Switch, specifically with the consoles controllers, the joycons. Some reviewers from a number of sites have reported a loss of signal between one joy-con and the switch unit itself. A lot of the issues seem to be with the left joycon. The cause of the issue is still unknown but early guesses seem to point toward signal interference. Even covering up the left controller with your right hand seems to cause a loss in signal. Hopefully, this issue gets resolved quickly by Nintendo or else the Switch launch next week could see some very unhappy people trying to play Zelda or even worse, delaying the launch until a fix is available.

It’s time for…

Speaking of phones, yesterday the Galaxy S8+ specs were leaked, and today, its little brother, the regular S8, had its specs leaked. Theres not much difference other than screen size.. So i guess.. Nothing to see here, lets move along.
