Intel & AMD new CPUs will only support Windows 10

Ok this is now official: Intel’s Kaby Lake and AMD’s Zen processors will only support Windows 10.  Windows 7 may not be able to last as long as we hoped.

Intel AMD Windows 10

Microsoft’s push on Windows 10 is not a secret. Everyone knows that company is doing everything they can to force customers to their latest operating system. However, some people like myself still prefer Windows 7 over the new OS. What can Microsoft do about people like me? They found the best allies ever: Intel and AMD.

Early this year, Intel already surprised us; making Skylake a Windows 10 only CPU. There was a small hope that AMD will not follow Intel’s direction. Now there is no alternative anymore. If you will purchase a new rig you have to get Windows 10 too.

At this moment, we do not know if there are any bypass or backdoor to still enable the new gen. processors on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. What we can be certain is that Microsoft will make Windows 10 a mandatory pick for anyone building a new machine.

Since the trend is invertible, for those who is still using Windows 7 but already have plans for a new build, you better upgrade your Windows 7 to Windows 10 soon. Last time I checked, you can still receive the free upgrade push notification by change your local machine time prior July 30th, 2016.
