LG V20 Dual-Screen Smartphone revealed

LG V20 is a dual screen 5.7-inch flagship which will be available in North America soon. People may not know this V series from LG because many carriers only have the G series. Last year LG launched V10, the 1st generation of this product line. the biggest feature of the V series is the dual screen design: main screen + notification screen.

The image above shows you how the dual screens look like on the LG V10. I personally love this concept because I  can have full control of what I want to see with bigger icons too. The V20 will keep this core feature with a major upgrade on hardware specs.

LG V20 Specifications

  • 5.7-inch IPS display
  • 2560*1440 resolution (513 ppi)
  • Android 7.0 Nougat
  • Snapdragon 820
  • 4GB RAM
  • 64GB storage
  • MircoSD up to 2TB
  • 3200 mAH battery (removable)
  • QuickCharge 3.0 support

The biggest problem with V10 last year was a premium ph0ne with a weak snapdragon 808 processor. The phone sold at flagship price but without typical flagship performance. Luckily, LG learned from the mistakes. The V20 is truly a flagship that can be compared with any other premium phones on the market today such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

More features to make V20 Unique

Extra features are always needed to make a phone standing out and dual-screen simply is not enough to convincing consumers. Therefore, V20 added some juice in the video and audio part.

The camera in the front will be a wide-angle 8MP f/2.4 aperture. LG is following Huawei with a dual camera setup at rear. 16 MP main with f/1.8 aperture; 8 MP with  f/2.4 aperture. This will allow you to shoot in 135 degrees when needed. Moreover, with Steady Record 2.0, LG is trying to give V20 a competitive edge in action recording. Steady record 2.0 includes improved Qualcomm EIS (electronic image stabilization) and LG DIS (digital image stabilization). The intention here is to capture smoother and steady videos when users are on the move. This phone is made for “storytellers”.

Audio is not left behind. V20 will be the first phone to feature a 32-bit quad DAC. This will greatly improve the sound quality of the phone.  In addition, the 24-bit/192kHz recorder is up to 6.5 times more accurate than typical 16-bit recording. LG also claims the audio capture range is up to 120 dB to 132 dB.
