Google’s self-driving car project will become a real product within the technology company Waymo. It will focus more on technology and safety rather than building the vehicle itself.

In Waymo CEO Jon Krafcik’s blog post, he said that “Waymo stands for a new way forward in mobility. We are a self-driving technology company with a mission to make it safe and easy for people and things to move around. We can imagine our self-driving technology being used in lots of different areas-ride-sharing business, in transportation, trucking logistics, even personal use vehicles and licensing with automakers”.

After more than 2 million miles of the real driving test, the company confirmed that their vehicles are able to perform difficult driving tasks like responding to emergency vehicles and mastering multilane stops.

As it well known, Tesla is also developing their own self-driving car to put on the road. For comparison, the Waymo has the better self-driving system in this case. Without the need for driver at the wheel, you can get you want to go by pushing a button.

In conclusion…

Google’s self-driving car is not officially head to the market, so you will not see it on the road this year. Due to some negative news regarding Tesla’s self-driving, many people still worry about the safety of Waymo. However, for what it is worth, it is great and huge move for Google’s self-driving car project.
